YOU GONNA FLY - KEITH URBAN

"You Gonna Fly" by Keith Urban is about restarting your life. This message is clear right from the beginning of the first verse.
"One, two, three baby don't think twice. Just like that you gotta brand new life"

I really like the thought of being able to change your entire life with one course of action. At the same time that is an extremely scary thought.

Does every decision you make in your life really change your entire life? If you turned down the first street instead of the second would you have met the love of your life instead of the crazy Jesus  lady? We all know who I am talking about. Andrew St isn't safe.

But seriously. Thoughts like this make the decisions that most of us are facing right now, such as applying to university much scarier. The choice of where you choose to live next year is a huge decision and will change the rest of your life. Every place will offer a different version of yourself.

Does this make you more excited or terrified?

As a fifth year and this being my second time through this experience I am leaning towards excited. But it is still a major decision. But take a note from my buddy Keith, "don't think twice, just like that you gotta brand new life". Next year, where ever you go, whatever you do, will be the beginning of the next chapter of your life.

IF I DIE YOUNG - THE BAND PERRY

"If I Die Young" by The Band Perry is about a young girl and what she wants to happen if she passes away. The video portrays the girl as if she has already passed away and what her family and friends have to go through.

The verse that I connect to the most is:
"Lord make me a rainbow, I'll shine down on my mother
She'll know I'm safe with you when she stands under my colors, oh,
And life ain't always what you think it ought to be, no
Ain't even grey, but she buries her baby"

I connect to this verse because I like to think that my loved ones who are no longer with us are shining down on us through rainbows. While this may sound corny or difficult to believe, I think it is better to believe in something, whatever that is, then nothing at all.

Death affects us all in different ways, it is an unavoidable part of life. While this is a very difficult thing to get through, music can help with this process. It helps to channel your feelings and thoughts into something attainable.
